I'm not always deep. I'm probably not deep enough. But everything's deep to someone who's shallow.
I don't think telling our stories makes anybody superhuman. Writers (and other artists), we are our own kryptonite. We highlight what terrifies us, expose what haunts us and then we have the nerve to share it with others, who typically want to discuss it. It's a death by a thousand cuts. And we do it every day.
It's strange and exhilarating. Try it sometime.
